  • Fourteen days to change your mind, with no reason to give

The times

Dispatch
Within 48 hours of your order being confirmed.
Delivery
Within 14 days from dispatch.

Why fourteen days and not twenty four hours. I hold no buffer stock, and I do not promise a time I could not keep. Fourteen days is the real time, announced in advance, rather than a flattering one followed by an apology.

You receive an email when the order is confirmed, then a second on dispatch, with the tracking number when the carrier provides one. If nothing has arrived after that time, write to me: I will look into it with you.

And what the law imposes over and above my own commitment: the delivery time may under no circumstances exceed thirty days from the order. After that, you can give me formal notice to deliver, then cancel the order and be refunded in full.

The point that matters most here: the bangle

A jade bangle is carved from a single block. It does not open, it does not close, and it cannot be recut. It is the number one reason for returns in this market, far ahead of colour.

That takes nothing away from your right of return: a bangle that does not fit goes back like any other piece, within the same time and on the same terms. But a round trip takes time and leaves you without the piece.

Two minutes of measuring avoids almost all of these cases: measure how your hand passes through, hand closed and thumb folded in, not your wrist. If you are torn between two diameters, send me your measurement before ordering and I will tell you which one goes on.

Payment

By bank card, and also by Apple Pay and Google Pay. Transactions are handled by the shop’s payment provider: I never see your card number, and it does not pass through this site. The detail of the processing.

Prices are in euros. No VAT is charged, for the reason explained in the legal notice. The order is dispatched only once payment has cleared.

The packaging, and why it matters here

This is not a question of presentation, it is a question of scratches.

Jade travels better than most stones, for a reason you can see in a museum: its interlocking fibrous structure makes it exceptionally tough. That is what made polished axes possible in the Neolithic, and what sets it apart from a stone that is merely hard. Jade does not split along an internal plane the way a stone with cleavage does.

Its hardness, on the other hand, is ordinary: between 6 and 6.5 depending on the species. Quartz dust, which sits at 7, therefore scratches a jade polish, and two pieces travelling together in the same pouch arrive marked. Each piece leaves in its own pouch, separated from the others.

One precaution that follows from the unknown treatment status. If a stone has been impregnated with resin, heat does it no good. Do not leave the parcel all day in a mailbox in full sun or on the rear shelf of a car. Why I cannot know.

On arrival

  • Look at the piece against the light, not under a ceiling lamp. It is the first disappointment people write to me about with this material: under diffuse light from the front, a jade looks flat and opaque. Hold it up to a window. The distance light travels inside it is what you paid for, and it only shows by transmission.
  • Expect a shade different from the photo. The images are taken on the reference example, and that is not the piece that ships to you. In a natural material, the green varies from one piece to another within the same listing.
  • Check the piece on arrival. If something is wrong, photograph it before handling anything and write to me.
  • Keep the pouch. It is the best storage there is, and it prevents scratches. Storing jade jewellery.

Changing your mind: the right of withdrawal

You have fourteen days from receiving your order to withdraw, without having to give a reason and without penalty. If the order is delivered in several parts, the period runs from receipt of the last item.

How to do it, in practise

  1. Write to me at contact@jade-ijada.com before the fourteen days are up, with your order number. One sentence is enough, there is no form to fill in.
  2. I reply with the return address and what to do. Send nothing before you have that reply, or the parcel may go astray.
  3. Send the piece back within the fourteen days following your message, in its original packaging if possible, with enough to protect it: jade is tough but it scratches and it chips on an edge.
  4. I refund you on receipt, or on proof of dispatch if that reaches me sooner, and at the latest fourteen days after being informed of your decision.

What is refunded, and what is not

  • The price of the piece is refunded in full, along with the original postage, at the standard rate.
  • Return postage is at your expense, unless the piece received does not match its product page or arrived damaged: in that case everything is at my expense, return included.
  • The refund is made by the same means of payment as the order.

An exception that is not invoked here, and I say so deliberately. The law allows the right of withdrawal to be set aside for goods made to the customer’s specifications. A piece chosen or set for you remains returnable in this shop: I do not make use of that exception.

A piece worn beyond what is needed to try it on may lose value, and that depreciation may be deducted. Try it as you would in a shop, not for a whole day.

A damaged or lost parcel, or a piece that does not match

Photograph it before opening if the packaging is damaged, then photograph the piece, and send me everything. I do not ask for complicated proof: a photo and an order number are enough.

If the piece received does not match what its product page states, mineral or dimension included, that is a lack of conformity and not a withdrawal: the return is at my expense, and you choose between replacement and refund. The legal warranties are detailed in the terms and conditions of sale.

A useful reminder before you worry about a difference in shade: jade is a natural material, and I weigh one example per listing, not the piece that ships to you. The green can vary from one piece to another within the same listing. A variation in shade is not a defect; a mineral different from the one stated is.

The times announced are commitments, not optimistic estimates. The costs shown are those actually applied by the shop; in the event of a discrepancy, the amount displayed in the cart is the one that applies.
